La Rectoria is the perfect base from where to start your day’s bike ride when planning your cycling holiday in Catalonia

La Rectoria – your complete cycling destination in La Garrotxa

La Rectoria de Sant Miquel de Pineda lies 45km north west of Girona, regarded as one of Europe’s top cycling destinations.  So whether it’s the challenge of road cycling over testing terrain  or recreational cycling with family and friends, La Rectoria is the perfect base from where to start your day’s bike ride when planning your cycling holiday in Catalonia.   Nestling in the foothills of the Pyrenees La Rectoria is on the doorstep of some gruelling mountain climbs with spectacular views and is a stop over point on the 353km Pirinexus circular touring route linking Girona and the south of France.

Our neighbouring town Sant Esteve d’En Bas is the starting point for three road cycle routes designated by Turisme Costa Brava of 90 to 150kms with up to 2,600m of climbs.  Sant Esteve d’En Bas also hosts Catalonia’s largest amateur cycling race, Terra de Remences, covering 175km (shorter option of 100km).

For the recreational cyclist La Rectoria sits directly on ‘El Carrilet’ Via Verde cycle route, 100km of former rail track running from Olot, 16km to the north on down to Girona and ultimately Sant Feliu de Guixols on the Costa Brava.  El Carrilet also gives guests the choice of bike trips around the Vall d’En Bas, the heart of the volcanic park near Olot or other options. We can help you to arrange bicycle hire for this and for road bicycles.

La Rectoria provides secure bike storage and the chance to rest those weary limbs after a day in the saddle.  Sports massages can be arranged and a laundary service is available.  Picnics can be provided and take advantage of a refreshing dip in the pool as the season permits.
