General travel tips for La Garrotxa weather...
If you intend to do some walking, do pack walking boots. A lightweight, rainproof jacket is advisable in spring and autumn and an umbrella. However, like household insurance we hope that you will probably not have to use them!
The climate of La Garrotxa is considered medium, mountain mediterranean. The verdent green of the county is due to abundant rainfall year round, with winter months the driest.
Spring (April-June) the concophony of morning bird song, brings with it a wide pallet of greens accompanied by blossoms and meadow flowers. During the day temperatures range between 10-25ºc with spring showers.
Summer (July-Sept) the temperatures can reach mid-30s with the temperatures falling during the evening and night, giving rise to fresh, sunlit mornings.
Autumn (Oct-November) brings with it a dramatic transformation of the landscape as the greens of the forests give way to the golden hues of autumn. Daytime temperatures range from 15-20ºc and increasingly cooler evenings.
Winter (December-February) is the driest season of the year with morning frosts prelavent in December and January. Snow at lower levels is infrequent and tends not to lie for any length of time.
